Surrogate Pay & Compensation

The Surrogacy Source is dedicated to providing optimal financial compensation to gestational surrogates in our program. As a surrogate mother, you are a very important part of a life-changing process, and it is important that you are fully compensated for your effort and expenses in this remarkable role. Compensation varies based on first time or experienced surrogate fee and singleton versus multiple pregnancy. Please contact us if you have any questions regarding our surrogate compensation schedule.

California and Colorado Surrogate Fee – $55,000

Surrogate mothers in California and Colorado are compensated with a base fee of $55,000 for their time, effort and costs incurred from living expenses. The total compensation is paid in 8 installments from fetal heartbeat confirmation and continuing every month as long as surrogate is pregnant, with the balance due within 7 days of delivery.

Surrogate Fee, All Other States – $50,000

Surrogate mothers are compensated

with a base fee of $50,000 for their time, effort and costs incurred from living expenses. The total compensation is paid in 8 installments from fetal heartbeat confirmation and continuing every month as long as surrogate is pregnant, with the balance due within 7 days of delivery.

Experienced Surrogates

Women who have been a gestational surrogate previously receive higher compensation than first time surrogates. Depending on experience, repeat surrogate compensation increases with each surrogacy journey. Please contact us to discuss your compensation today!

Monthly Expense Allowance – $350

A monthly expense allowance is provided for surrogate mothers in order to cover any expenses that are related to surrogacy. Expenses can include: county driving miles, meals, parking, phone calls, faxing, postage, childcare, non-prescription medications, and pregnancy wellness appointments such as yoga or chiropractor.

Maternity Clothing – $1,000

An allowance is provided for surrogate mothers to purchase any maternity clothing that they may need. This allowance is typically provided at the start of the second trimester, 13-16 weeks.

Embryo Transfer – $1,000

The embryo transfer fee is meant to reimburse a gestational surrogate for any lost wages, childcare or housekeeping costs that result from required bed rest post-transfer. This fee is provided to the surrogate in two parts: $500 at the start of the injections and the remaining $500 on the day of the embryo transfer.

Multiples – $10,000

As it is possible for the IVF procedure to result in multiple pregnancies, surrogate mothers are guaranteed $10,000 compensation per additional baby should they carry twins or triplets.

Invasive Procedure – $500

If an invasive procedure such as Amniocentesis, CVS, termination, reduction or a D&C is required, a payment of $500 will be given to the surrogate.

Monthly Support Group – $100

Each month, surrogates are required to attend an online support group meeting with their fellow surrogates. Support groups allow surrogates to interact and form friendships with someone who knows exactly what they’re experiencing.

Caesarean Section – $2,500

In the event that a doctor orders a caesarean section to be performed, the surrogate will receive $2,500 in compensation to cover costs that may occur during the rest and recovery period post-procedure.

Health Insurance Premiums – In Full

This amount will be paid in full to the surrogate mother directly and is meant to reimburse all costs relating to premiums, prescriptions, co-pays, and deductibles that correspond to the pregnancy. The exact amount will depend on the surrogate herself, single vs. multiple pregnancies and whether or not the surrogate insurance covers maternity benefits (if required).

1 Year Term Life Insurance Policy – Valued at $250,000

A one year term life insurance policy will be purchased to provide the surrogate’s family with peace of mind and financial security.

If travel is required, all hotel, airfare, meals, and transportation will be provided for you and a guest.

Lost wages are not included in the above and are provided in addition to baseline compensation, if bed rest is physician ordered.

Gestational surrogacy is an altruistic act and for many of our surrogates, the compensation is not the main motivation but rather helping intended parents who long for a family. At The Surrogacy Source, we believe in the importance of being rewarded for your generous efforts, and it is our priority to ensure that your needs are met.
